The Heart of Sentiency

Sentiency was created to help organisations align their vision, structure, and mission with the living systems they are part of.

We believe that organisations, like ecosystems, thrive when they are rooted in belonging – to purpose, to community, to the greater ecology of life.

Our work is to support nonprofits and purpose-driven teams where vision has become unclear or disconnected. Where purpose is present but not fully expressed. It gently clears what stands in the way, allowing clarity, alignment, and flow to return. What emerges is not just sharper strategy,
but restored vitality.

Through strategy, structure, governance, and aligned programme development, we help organisations build in a way that strengthens not just their impact, but their integrity and their relationship to the living systems they are a part of.

About Marguerite

My work is rooted in the understanding that the living world in all its expressions – seen and unseen, human and more-than-human – is alive and held within networks of belonging that precede us, and that we are learning to return to with care and humility.

As Managing Director of Sentinel Ocean Alliance, I’ve led transformative ocean-based education and therapy programmes for underserved communities, focused on fostering belonging, resilience, and reciprocity.

As a former practicing attorney in environmental and human rights law, I bring a principled and strategic lens to governance, policy development, and organisational alignment. This legal grounding informs how I support nonprofits to build resilient structures, design ethical systems, and remain aligned with their purpose while serving real-world impact.

Sentiency brings this understanding to every organisation I work with, particularly to founders and new nonprofits at the critical early stages of building. My role is to help carry the original vision into clear, enduring form.

Foundational Philosophy

“To see the earth as sacred is to recognize the spirit in every living thing”
— Robin Wall Kimmerer

Sentience is not a metaphor.

Systems are alive. They respond to care, attention, and relationship.

Structure can be sacred.

Governance can offer direction like a river’s course, shaping movement without impeding flow.

Sustainability is not enough.

We seek regeneration: practices that nourish all parts of the system.

People are part of nature.

Organisations are not separate from the planetary whole but are nested within it.

Purpose is a thread.

We design systems that help organisations keep hold of it, even in complexity and change.

Reciprocity is a living exchange.

When organisations give and receive with integrity, they join the cycle that sustains life.

A Guiding Question

How can we grow organisations as living systems, not static entities?

This question guides everything we build.
